One evening back when I was still in Utrecht, me and my DH were on a bus, going home. We were speaking English (of course) and there was this girl walking towards us and sat in front of us..
My DH suddenly looked at me and asked, "Did you hear what she said?"
I was like, "No. What, what did she say?"
"She said we shouldn't speak English. We should speak Dutch instead"
Then I realized the whole passengers was looking at her and me instead, wondering what the f was going on. I had no clue myself.
"Oh wow, very funny. I don't speak the language", I added.
And the girl was glaring at me like I was some kind of disease or something. Glarrring!! What a b*tch!! But just by looking at her, I knew that she CAN'T speak English. So I was still whispering (out loud) behind her back.
Her stop came, and she stood up, still glaring at me once in awhile. And then there was this guy looking at her with a "what the hell is your problem" kind of look. He turned at me and smile, shook his head and laughed.
She got off, and I could see her evil eyes looking at me from the window outside. I should've stuck my middle finger out back then.. she wouldn't understand, would she?
I could understand how that girl was so embarassed.. Of course. Having the whole bus looked at her like that.. and she's not even anyone famous.. What a drama queen!!
Finally.. something in Edmonton. My DH & I LOVE amusement park. And there's not much of it here in the city where I live. There is actually NONE. So when CapitalEX is opening this year, we're a bit excited. Although you can't compare it to an amusement park, 'cause it's simply the largest fair (or exhibitions as they claim it) in Canada. Sunday July 20th, Edmonton was frreaking HOT!! I wasn't sure about the temperature, but I was baking outside (hey, I got my tan back, lol). And to make matters worse, I didn't remember anything about wearing sunscreen.. stupid me. Anywhoo, we walked around the fair, and found no rides worth trying. You had to pay extra (on every ride) on top of the entrance fee (which was very much worth it, 10 bucks). There was an all day pass but we missed the dateline. Oh well.. I wanted to go on a bungee jumping ball. I suppose it would be a fun, stress-releasing (as my friend Diana claims) ride. But when I looked at the fee, 40 bucks per person. Ah nee, let me worked my ass off first to make the payment very well worth it. So we decided to just go see shows instead. From US break dancing, our little brother is fond of dancing although he doesn't dance himself, but I notice that most of the time he spends his time watching "America's Next Best Dance Group" - to the FMX show, all the motorbikes action that made me grin - to seeing butterfly house, where there's an isolated place full of butterflies plus the birthing center - to a talent show, circus and a hypnotize show. The last two shows were very entertaining. I've never been a fan of circus. My DH talked me through to go see cirque du soleil a couple times. I said yes, but I was just thinking that circus was all about people in boring tight gym tracksuits and weird animals, showing moves on a slow classic songs. And God knows why, we just never went to any of it. And when the show started yesterday, I realize I was totally erred. Those circus men were like modern and colorful version of men in Mary Poppins. Very cute indeed. The music was upbeat and fun, and the actors were funny. I left the hall with a big smile, and would say a big YESSS the next time my DH asks me. The hypnotize show was hosted by an English man, Terrance B. At first we had no clue what this show was all about. Then I realized, it was something I've seen before. 15 people in audience got hypnotized, went onto the stage and were hypnotized further. They were dancing crazily - a girl was about to show one of her boobs before a staff took her behind the stage to fix her bra and top, they acted like dancers, shaggy, elvis and monkeys. To us, it was hilarious!! Close to 11 pm we went up to directors' suit of a horse track (pretty cool, isn't it? but it was open, so everyone was allowed to go there) to enjoy the fireworks. It was the best ones I've seen so far..
For the 1st Time, my DH goes w/ the look.. and I go with the function.. We were at Wal-Mart yesterday, standing for an hour, looking at rice cookers. Yeap, I finally am tired with the old-way rice cooking. Soak the rice, put it in high heat, lower the heat, stir it up.. Takes so much time while my stomach's already screwing up inside.. There were 2 rice cookers we were interested in. Black & Decker and Aroma. The B&D one is like $3 cheaper than the other one. But I was just thinking about the lids. B&D's lid is removable, so I can clean up the cracks that are caused by the steam, while Aroma's lid isn't. Black & Decker (left) & Aroma (right) I had aroma's kind of rice cooker while I was in NL, but there was an extra layer on the lid that was detachable, so I was able to wash it whenever it reached the point of "eeewwww". My DH was very fond of my old rice cooker, too bad we couldn't bring it here because of plug issue, which is the same reason why I can't bring any rice cooker from Jakarta. Too bad, 'cause we have some good rice cooker brands like National & Maspion And now my DH wants a similar rice cooker to my old one. Of course, yesterday he was excited to get the Aroma's one, a bit disappointed when I said I prefered the B&D one instead. LOL, I am the one who's cooking and cleaning.. B&D doesn't look bad anyways, it just has a transparent top so you can see what's in it. And it's a 17 cup rice cooker, although I admit that we won't need it soon. We haven't reached the word though. Any advice ?
Yayyy!! Well, not exactly here, but we looked into FedEx's website, checked the status of our tracking number, and the post man should ring Monday before 5pm. Finally.. I just can't wait to work again, back behind the desk.. like I used to.. and I can save up for a lot of things.. especially holidays.. oh how I miss those moments.. Well, of course I have to take my time until that happens. 'Cause I might need to translate the criminal record. I am just, simply, happy.. I thought it was going to be wayyy longer than this.. I guess the Dutch drink a lot of sissi and they can take it easy at least that's what my brother says..

I am watching this Miss Universe pageant, hosted in Vietnam.
When they announced the top 15, I was talking to my DH, "Please, don't let USA be in it!" and.. Mel B & Jerry Springer called Miss USA as the top 15 winner, within seconds.. Ohhh..
Just few moments ago, the evening gowns show of the top 10. USA was, of course, in it. And just few hours ago I recalled Rachel Smith fell during the pageant's evening gown show, I went on youtube to search for the videos.
This year, the bad luck is back. And.. maybe God heard my shout, during US swimsuit show, I was just wishing out loud "fall, fall, fall, trip, trip, trip!!" eeek, nothing happened. But just in time for the evening gowns show, the entrance of Miss USA, again I was like "fall, fall, fall, trip, trip, trip!!" And YESSSS, she fell on her butt, just like last year's Miss USA..
Setelah beberapa lama (kelamaan kayaknya) absen baca Kompas, hari ini gue buka lagi, pengen tau apa yang terjadi di negaraku tercinta. Satu headline menarik perhatian gue. Foto close-up seorang pemuda terbalut baju pramuka. Dan.. this is the best part.. Selamat jalan Pungkas..
Yesterday, I "jemur baju", today I "jemur paint pots" Yeah.. some of my lovely paint pots were drying out and it made me sad.. I looked up on the internet many many times, and all I got was "mix dry paint pot with mixing medium, which is 1 part water and 3 parts glycerin" I did it, worked a bit but not so smoothly.. Then friend of mine told me she mixed hers with glysolid. I tried it on.. It worked, but it took some time.. Another friend of mine told me, she microwaved her paint pots and fluidlines and it worked. Pretty reasonable, but something I cannot do, 'cause I simply don't have a microwave, lol I looked online again, found an idea from specktra, a girl melted her paint pots with hair dryer.
From there, I got an idea.. "hey, why not lay my paint pots and fluidlines out in the sun". So I did.. I put out like 3 or 4 dry paint pots, and a dry HiP cream liner.. It was a success with the paint pots, it melted and glided smoothly on my lids.
However, my cream liner's still intact. Yesterday I did my cream liner again, but I forgot to take it in until the sun was gone.. hehe so stupid of me.. Anyways, this is one cheap and easy way to heal your paint pots. Good luck to you if you decide to try it out
My Hubby doesn't like me wearing make up too much, so I put as little eye make up as possible, with lots of 'adonan' to make it pop. Stupidly enough, I forgot my mascara. Instead, I put on my glysolid cream and I was surprised to see my lashes curled perfectly. EOTD: MAC PP Painterly MAC e/s Spring Up MAC e/s Hey! .. or should I say.. mean wife? So my DH reads my blog once in awhile.. and yesterday morning, he bugged me with a question.. : what's DH? : (it was early in the morning, I was asleep, my DH didn't understand any words coming out of my mouth.. I didn't even remember any conscious moments then) he asked me again that afternoon : what's DH? I know H is Husband.. but what's D?? : DUMB..
There's always first of everything.. well, not necessarily.. but my DH got his first speeding ticket yesterday.. Disappointed, of course.. but in the end we just laughed it off. I am not sure what the limit here to get speeding ticket - only if you're nailed. I think it's over than 5k faster than speed limit. My DH tends to drive 20k faster. I know he's crazy, but he's pretty good at finding hidden cameras, knowing where cops are, even the undercover ones. However, he wasn't so lucky 2 weeks ago.. Somewhere over the rainbow, the cops nailed him driving 66 when the limit was 50.. First ticket in 6 years of driving, and speeding. This goes back to reminding us of what he did in NL with his bike. Biking along the centrum is forbidden, and he did that for 5 years until he got ticket for the first time, 25 euro, well.. not bad, just think of it as 5 euro per year.. I just hope he slows down a bit now, especially in the area where there are so much traffic lights and they're close to each other. It makes me dizzy (and pisses me off more than anything), when he drives 70 and pushed the brakes without even slowing down. Sometimes I just feel like running away and take a cab.
I ain't although I live here.. But I guess I have to tolerate my husband and in-laws who are very patriotic I was expecting some huge celebration.. But some time ago, I was informed it's nothing like Queens Day of the Netherlands nor 4th of July of USA I saw some activities in the newspaper yesterday and planned to go to a park to see what's there but today we're just down with flu.. 3 out of 4 Started with my DH who froze in his work yesterday came home with sneezes and running nose Then little brother caught it Then of course, I wasn't feeling well this morning 'cause I slept next to my DH..
Heidi said "You have to name your car otherwise it's bad luck!"
Yeah, right.. lol I do not really believe in that but I do want to pick a name for our car and my other babies - camera, guitar, laptop, etc. I think it's pretty cool to call these babies by names. Besides all the 'fun', these names make me think of 'life' that leads to me taking great care of them.. It's just, people are gonna think I'm crazy if I start to talk to them. But I figured it's very hard to pick names. I can't even imagine finding a name for my child later on - I don't know how mommies did it. I get bored of names sometimes and with kids there is no way you could change their names. I couldn't even pick names for my turtles back home. Well, I guess, because I have several and they all look the same.. So, how did you name your babies (whatever form they are)? And when you did, ever thought that you might get bored with the names?

Summer had officially begun, June 20th 2008. Well, great.. 'cause I can go out and jog and keep myself tanned hehe. Little brother said it WILL go up to 30. That's fine, feels like home.. And he said it COULD go up to 40. Okay, I don't like the sound of that.. but I've been there done that, so I'll survive..Although, there's one part I dislike the most. My husband is never fond of warm weather. He can't eat or sleep when it's warm and all of a sudden he becomes 'jutek'. And he says over and over again: "I need Air Conditioning.. I will buy Air Conditioning.. bla bla blaaa".
Yeah yeah.. guess what.. you've been whining for 3 summers.. somewhat like as long as I know you, lol.. I still love you though hehe..
I know, I know.. ever since I moved back to Jakarta and hung out with the bancies, I got more and more interested in make up.
I have always loved colors since I was a kid.. and although a bit late, I knew a bit about make up back in college. I didn't wear much, as I was lazy, and the Dutch weather always ruined my fashion from head-to-toe, so I couldn't be bothered.
When I went to Paris in 2000 to visit some friends, we went to Sephora to shop around - what I was buying were headbands and hairpins. But my friends had another idea, they had me made over!! And so I bought a couple of make up items, and the only thing I can remember is MUFE compact powder.
Long gone, but I never really wore any make up, so those items were a waste.. But back in 2005, I had to go for a traineeship in Kuala Lumpur. I stayed at my aunt's place and a family friend's place. My aunt kept saying "You've got to be pretty.. wear lipstick.." oooh okay okay.. luckily, I had a few lip items back then. Not remember which, but I wore them once in awhile. The color won't really last, but I didn't really care..
Somewhere in 2006 I realized I was going to go for another traineeship and I should at least look better than when I was in Kuala Lumpur - people care about people who care about themselves. So I started collecting make up items. As far as I can remember, they were: - white e/s from H&M, - 2 items of duo e/s from H&M (all green from light to forest), - H&M tinted lipglass, - brown & black pencil eyeliner from Zara (yes, the clothing store), - an eyelash curler and a travel brush set brand Miss Helen I bought from HEMA (silly, I know).. I did not know how to apply make up, so I figured, buying the cheaps for basics won't hurt. And I didn't give any allergic reaction to my skin, so it was good. Long gone, I suddenly had to leave the Netherlands. First stop was Jakarta. I lived there longer than I had expected. So I started to meet up with some new friends.. It wasn't my fault that my friends were so into make up and I got caught in it. Some people were very surprised and my parents were actually happy, that I've finally showing the woman in me. I was lonely.. distance away from my dear husband, so I figured I had to do something - and that's when make up comes to the rescue.. And now, I'm back living with my husband, and have not yet given up on make up. I actually won't. It's a new hobby for me, something that I think will be very useful to combine with my other hobby - photography.
Happy belated Birthday, Jakarta!!
I lost count of the numbers that represent the age I loved, love and will always love that big city called Jakarta Where I spent half of my life living, growing and learning..
It's a place that I call hometown.. It's JAKARTA
